Welcome UMGC Master of Data Science students! iNovex is excited to partner with UMGC to offer MSDA students the opportunity to apply your data science skills and work experience toward a career in national intelligence. iNovex is a large business contractor with several prime contracts at the NSA. If you have the working experience outlined below in our eligibility requirements, then this program provides opportunities for you as a cybersecurity Data Scientist in Maryland, Georgia, Texas, Colorado, Hawaii, and abroad. We’re ready to invest in your future to help fill those positions, with paid training along four cybersecurity tracks to augment your MSDA degree. Depending on your experience and undergraduate degree, you could complete the program and get placed in one of those positions before you complete your MSDA studies.

Eligibility Requirements

Military experience is desired but not required.

Minimum: Bachelor’s and 3 years of relevant experience, or associate’s and 5 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research or Computer Science.

Relevant experience must be in machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming, (e.g., Python), statistical analysis, data management, data mining, data modeling, AI and/or software engineering.

A degree in a related field may be considered if it includes a concentration of coursework (typically 5 or more courses) in advanced mathematics (typically 300 level or higher, such as linear algebra, probability and statistics, machine learning) and/or computer science (e.g., algorithms, programming, data structures, data mining, AI).

Program Requirements

  • Security clearance screening
  • Cyber Fundamentals course
  • Two courses from a specific track (see coursework below)
  • Certification resulting from one course
  • Capstone project related to the track
  • Program completed in 18 months or less
  • Twelve-month employment commitment

Program Coursework

Cyber Fundamentals (required) plus four cyber tracks to choose from, each with a curated list of possible courses and related technical certifications. Courses are subject to change.

iNovex Commitment

  • iNovex curates, funds and provides materials and other infrastructure for the courses and certifications.
  • iNovex works with UMGC to develop the capstone project for each program candidate.
  • iNovex provides infrastructure, mentorship and access to subject matter experts to assist with each project as needed.
  • iNovex sponsors the candidate’s security clearance processing.
